AAJ praises Obama pre-emption memo - 5/21/09.
In the blog of the Legal Times (5/21) Marisa McQuilken wrote, "President Barack Obama gave plaintiffs lawyers a reason to celebrate Wednesday afternoon, issuing a memorandum advising department and agency heads that federal pre-emption will be the exception, not the rule, in his administration." While, the "plaintiffs bar was already confident that Obama would support the rights of states to enact laws that exceed federal regulations," the newly released "memo makes Obama's stance on the issue official." A statement released by the American Association for Justice "praised" the action, saying, "The Obama Memo on regulatory preemption makes clear that the rule of law will once again prevail over the rule of politics."
